The surgery step by step

• The surgery is performed into a sterile surgery room and under local or general anesthesia
• A tourniquet will be applied on the operated thigh
• The incision will be made on the anterior or lateral side of the knee
• The surgeon will expose the knee joint and remove the diseased or damaged joint surfaces of the knee according to prior accurate calculus and using accurate and motorized instruments.
• Trial prosthetic components will be positionned and if the test results are good, the definitive prosthesis will be fixed.
• The knee joint will be tested a last time before the incision is closed with a suture and a drain is placed to evacuate the hematoma.
• The whole surgery will take about 2 hours
• After completion of surgery, you will be transferred to the post anesthesia care unit and closely monitored.
• When you are judged to have recovered from the anesthesia, you will be transferred to a surgical ward elsewhere in the hospital and monitored by a nurse.
